Inner Handyman

After successfully changing the leaky kitchen faucet with the cool new sprayer that apparently has a 'stun' setting (who knew we had that much water pressure), I'm starting to get in touch with my inner handyman.

While Dawn was out getting more supplies yesterday, I started on the new tub surround for the 'old' bathroom. It hasn't peeled off the wall yet, so I figure it's safe to post pictures. It's more impressive when you remember what the bathroom used to look like...

This was when the window first came out... nice view of the addition in progress (I had to help them take out the window because apparently they didn't realize it was attached to the frame... same guys who did the drywall). As a side note, we managed to salvage one of the colored tiles so Dawn was able to finally fill in the tile that the previous owners didn't install.

"Let's see how bad the drywall is..." I'm pretty sure that's not the black mold, it's just mold that happens to be black in color.

There comes a point when it's just easier to cut out the wall than it is to try prying off the tiles...

I thought I had a picture of the bathroom after the drywall was replaced, but I guess not. Before you scroll down, just take a moment to imagine what it would've looked like...

And viola... new tub surround. We even have a new soap/shampoo dispenser. Everyone seems surprised when I do projects like this (they must've seen some of my wood shop projects... "umm... I'll just stick a cord in it and call it a lamp"). I'd better be careful, life is pretty easy when people think you don't know your way around with tools. They might start expecting things out of me if I don't watch what I'm doing... I must say though, it is a little addicting. Once you finish and it doesn't look like it was assembled by circus monkeys, you start looking around for other things to fix. Feels pretty good...
