Okay so you ALL know I am not known for my patient laid back personality...stop laughing. So this whole building an addition is going to be a growing experience for me...or I will end up burying somebody in the foundation...whatever works. When our contractor first talked about the schedule for this week he had planned that they woud have the footings poured and the basement framed in by today. Well real life got in the way and between a water main in Lethbridge breaking and being fixed by 'our' excavation crew and other such hold ups we end the first week of construction with (drum roll please) a HUGE HOLE IN BACKYARD and about a ton of mud that is currently being tracked into my house by kids who keep 'remembering' something VITAL they forgot in the backyard. I keep telling them "there is no back yard now, it's just a hole" but they insist on having to put their bikes away (something that they NEVER do ...EVER unless threatened with death) and a variety of other make work tasks that they come up with that gives me hope that one day at least 2 of the 4 will work for the government. But on the upside I finished the tiles in the kitchen and the Island edges this week, by the time they get around to framing the addition I will have all the 'little' jobs here in the house done, the walls knocked out downstairs, walls painted, millwork done, electrical sockets wired.....
whatever :-)
Here are before and after pics of the island, pretend you notice a VAST improvement.

Ohhh, I like the bottom thingy on your island Dawn. Whatcha call it, a footer? Job well done!
I call it fun with a mitre saw...but hey whatever ;-)
The island looks great! The lack of patience is why I will probably never actually build a house. I would go nuts.
I know this is just for "your house" ... but bah! I want MORE, so I tagged you on my blog...check it out to copy the rules and the questions.
